There are only a few physicians and Nurse Practitioners (NPs) who are trained in Bariatric Medicine.  Bariatric medicine is medical specialty that deals specifically with problems of obesity. This specialty is not well known but it fits betweem excercise and diet and Bariatric Sugery. There are many reasons people gain weight, so Cynthia, who is a board certified Family NP will talk with you about your needs and suggest what might work best for your individual weight loss needs. For instance: what times you are most vulnerable to snacking do you always eat dinner late. Have you been a chronic dieter = decrease metabolism - thne everything you eat  gets stored since there's going to be a famine again the next day. If you qualify, per guidelines from the Board of Bariatric Medicine as needing a medication to lose weight, the NP can prescribe an FDA approved, schedule IV (four) controlled substance medication. We are strict about following the standards set out by the Board of Bariatric Medicine and the American Society of Bariatric Medicine (ASBP). Bariatric surgery is the next step to weight loss. If your Body Mass Index is greater than 40 - it would be wise to consider surgery. We have reputable recommendations pf physicians who perform gastric bypass surgery as well as gastrectomy. Bariatric medicine is a very specialized field and only about 1% of the medical providers are qualified members of the American Society of Bariatric Physicians, and only about 350 have taken and passed the rigorous Board Certification process. Our Physician, and Nurse Practitioner are members of the ASBP and adhere to its principles and standards.  Advance practice nurses take the same rigorous exam is the physicians.

I was kinda skeptical to go here, but a friend recommended it so I gave it a try.... it's been six weeks and the results so far are great ........ gone from gaining almost every week no matter what... to losing a bit of weight EVERY SINGLE WEEK!!
